Oval floral piece inspired by Turkish Iznik tiles, featuring tulip and carnation flowers. This is a multi layered piece made to look like a rich tapestry. Painted in rich fuchsia and turquoise with fine details of shading. The design features a scalloped styled border with gold leaf textured pattern around the motif. From a recent trip to Istanbul the beautiful history and art truly captured majestic opulence and craftsmanship dating back over a 1000 years. I wanted to recreate these styles from my own perspective. The centre motif is carefully hand painted with watercolours and gouache with fine gold outlining. This is a piece that carries a lot to texture and interest which catches the light at different angles. Painted on a canvas 1/2" deep. Framed in a light oak styled plastic frame. Please note actual colours may slightly vary from the image shown due to monitor settings.
